Charter Review Commission

The Charter Review Commission is appointed by Council every five years to review and recommend any changes to the City's Charter, which must be amended through Election. The next Charter Review Commission will be appointed to review the Charter in 2025.

Previous Charter Review Commissions:

The Kyle City Council appointed a Charter Review Commission to review the City's existing charter and make recommendations about possible changes to the Charter in January 2025. The Council intends to consider these recommendations for the November 2025 Election Ballot. Recommendations will be made based on the review and discussion by the commission and will include input from the public.  The Council will consider the Charter Review Commission's recommendations, currently scheduled for July 15. 

A Citizen Hearing is scheduled for each meeting of the Commission, which take place at Kyle City Hall.

The Kyle City Council appointed a Charter Review Commission to review the City's existing charter and make recommendations about possible changes to the Charter in May 2020. The Council is hopeful to include these recommendations on the November 2020 Election Ballot. Recommendations will be made based on the review and discussion by the commission and will include input from the public.  The Council will consider the Charter Review Commission's recommendations, currently scheduled for July 21. 

The Commission is scheduled to discuss Public Workshop scheduling at their June 15, 2020 meeting.

A Citizen Workshop is scheduled on June 29, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at Kyle City Hall for the purpose of hearing public input to be considered in the commissions deliberations.

The Kyle City Council appointed a Charter Review Commission to review the City's existing charter and make recommendations about possible changes to the Charter in February 2015. Recommendations were made based on the review and discussion by the commission and included input from the public.  The Council considered the Charter Review Commission's recommendations, and there is a Special Election scheduled for May 7, 2016 for the proposed Charter Amendments.  Click here for information on the May 7, 2016 Election.

Three citizen workshops were scheduled for the purpose of hearing public input to be considered in the commissions deliberations. The workshops took place on:

  • April 25, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Kyle Public Library, 550 Scott Street
  • May 16, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Chapa Middle School Cafeteria, 3311 Dacy Lane
  • June 20, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Kyle City Hall Council Chambers, 100 W. Center Street

The Commission had scheduled regular meetings on the following Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. at the Kyle City Hall, Upstairs Conference Room:
